What is a Regional Gathering?

Mensans don't have conventions--they have gatherings. Emphasis is on "gathering together" with the hope that members will meet new friends, catch up with longtime friends, eat, drink, play games, and enjoy speakers and presentations to "tweak" your mind. A good RG will have something that appeals to mind, body, and soul.

Abbreviations

  • MWW: Mensa of Western Washington (a.k.a. Group 980)
  • MG: Monthly Gathering (monthly membership meeting, usually with a speaker)
  • RG: Regional Gathering (regional convention put on by a local group, which sends information to other Mensa groups and encourages members outside the area to attend)
  • AG: Annual Gathering (the national U.S. Mensa convention, usually held in July) The 2008 Annual Gathering will be in Denver, the Mile-High City.
  • WG: World Gathering – Need I say more?

    • The location

    This year our Regional Gathering was held at the Best Western Executive Inn in downtown Seattle, only 1.5 blocks from Seattle Center, the Space Needle, the Science Fiction Museum, and Experience Music Project (EMP).
